Job Description Position Summary:
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Repair Technician to support both the Production and Quality Departments of a leading metal stamping manufacturer. This role is critical in ensuring tooling is properly repaired, maintained, and optimized to meet production and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess journeyman-level experience and a deep understanding of manual, transfer, and progressive press dies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on transfer, progressive, and manual press dies.
  • Interpret and work from die design drawings with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Identify root causes of tooling issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams throughout the die lifecycle.
  • Apply knowledge of machinery and tooling best practices to optimize performance.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and support production needs.
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives and offer support to other team members.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and provide improvement suggestions.
  • Heat treat tooling parts as necessary.
  • Proactively work to improve personal skills and processes.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Complete all documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Journeyman Tool & Die Certificate preferred, or minimum 5 years of direct experience in metal stamping.
  • Strong understanding of the deep draw stamping process.
  • Demonstrated experience in die repair across transfer, progressive, and manual presses.
  • Excellent math skills, including geometry and algebra.
  • Strong problem-solving and judgment skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed precision work with minimal supervision.
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to high-quality work.
  • Comfortable using and maintaining shop equipment and tools responsibly.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive tasks involving bending, turning, reaching, etc.
  • Good vision (corrected to 20/20) and hearing within normal range.
  • Tolerant of varied temperatures and noisy environments (PPE required).
  • Strong motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
