JMS is seeking Wind Technicians to support renewable energy projects throughout the United States. Wind Techs are responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of wind turbines and their components. This safety-sensitive role includes performing regular inspections, troubleshooting issues and closely adhering to JMS Safety policies and industry standards.
Essential Duties
- Promote and follow JMS safety standards on-site, prioritizing and demonstrating safe behavior
- Install and terminate power, control and communication cabling within the tower, including nacelle, hub and base sections
- Install junction boxes, cable trays, conduits and grounding systems according to design specifications
- Perform electrical work for power distribution and interconnection to ensure seamless integration of renewable energy systems
- Climb and perform work at heights safely within wind turbine towers, following strict fall protection and safety protocols
- Collaborate with commissioning and electrical teams to support energization and system verification processes
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents specific to renewable energy projects to ensure accurate routing and connection of components
- Conduct continuity and insulation resistance testing to verify the integrity of installed wiring and components
- Perform and document quality assurance checks according to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and project standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, materials used and any changes or issues encountered
- Troubleshoot and repair wiring issues and component failures during installation and testing
- Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and job site hazard assessments.
- Comply with OSHA, NFPA 70E and site-specific safety requirements in all daily activities and tasks
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the wind industry or related electrical trade
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong commitment to safety and strict adherence to fall protection and safety protocols
- Working knowledge of basic construction principles
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and other technical documents
- Physical ability to pass tower climbing fit for duty physical, including general ability to climb ladder systems, carrying tools and equipment and meet OSHA weight requirements of 250-300 pounds (as determined by weight limits for ladders and rigging harnesses).
- Proficiency in the use of electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse project teams.
Work Environment:
- This is a site-based role and includes work performed at heights (300 feet), confined spaces and in all weather conditions and may include exposure to dust, fumes and loud noises.
- On-site work requires adherence to safety regulations and Company policies.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders, kneeling, and standing or walking 8-10 hours per day.
- Travel to various JMS jobsite locations may be required with limited notice
