Job Description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Code Welder to join our construction team on high-profile, code-compliant projects. This role is critical to ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and durability of steel frameworks, load-bearing components, and critical infrastructure elements across commercial and industrial construction sites. The Code Welder will be responsible for executing precision welding operations in accordance with strict industry standards, including AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and local building codes. With a strong commitment to quality, safety, and compliance, this professional will play a pivotal role in delivering structurally sound and code-approved welds that meet the highest engineering and regulatory benchmarks. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, demanding environments and demonstrates a proven track record of producing flawless welds under pressure.

*Responsibilities:*
  • Perform precision welding on structural steel, pipes, and fabricated components using multiple techniques including arc welding, stick welding, MIG welding, and TIG welding.
  • Interpret and follow detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding procedure specifications (WPS) to ensure compliance with project codes and standards.
  • Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections, including visual checks and non-destructive testing (NDT) preparation, to verify weld quality and integrity.
  • Maintain and calibrate welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations, site-specific safety protocols, and company safety policies during all operations.
  • Collaborate with project engineers, supervisors, and quality control teams to resolve welding issues and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Document weld procedures, material usage, and inspection results in compliance with QA/QC records.
  • Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective actions to maintain code compliance.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification renewal to maintain up-to-date qualifications and certifications.
*Work Environment:*
On-site construction locations across multiple locations, with exposure to outdoor conditions, heights, and heavy equipment. Safety is paramount—personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.

*Equal Opportunity Employer:*
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, or veteran status.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in structural welding within the construction industry.
  • Proficient in multiple welding methods: arc welding, stick welding (SMAW), MIG welding (GMAW), and TIG welding (GTAW).
  • Demonstrated ability to pass welder qualification tests (WQT) in accordance with ASME Sec IX.
  • Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials in high-stress structural applications.
  • Strong understanding of ASME Section IX, AWS standards, and local building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
  • Proven track record of producing defect-free welds and maintaining high-quality standards on construction projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be physically capable of working in outdoor and elevated environments, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as needed to meet project deadlines.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Pay rate is dependent on experience and successful completion of weld tests.
