Position Summary:

The General Superintendent is responsible for managing field operations across multiple commercial mechanical projects. This leadership role ensures safe, timely, and quality execution of work by directing field staff and subcontractors, coordinating with project managers, and enforcing site standards. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of mechanical construction, a strong safety mindset, and proven leadership in delivering high-performance projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support project superintendents, foremen, and field crews on HVAC, piping, and plumbing installations.
  • Oversee day-to-day field operations, including workforce coordination, equipment logistics, and site productivity.
  • Enforce safety compliance with Mullins Mechanical standards and OSHA regulations; lead by example in promoting a safe work environment.
  • Maintain detailed project schedules and ensure milestones are met or exceeded.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and ensure work aligns with design specifications, mechanical codes, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate closely with the project management team to align field execution with budget, scope, and timeline.
  • Lead jobsite meetings, including safety briefings and subcontractor coordination.
  • Resolve on-site issues efficiently, keeping projects on track and maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Monitor labor, material usage, and subcontractor performance across multiple sites.
  • Mentor and train field leadership to support career development and maintain high-performing teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction, including 5+ years in a field leadership or superintendent role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, mechanical piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Proven success managing large crews and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in interpreting mechanical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Proficient in construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety certifications preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or degree in construction or mechanical trades preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Field-based role with frequent travel to project sites.
  • Work performed in indoor/outdoor commercial construction settings.
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, tools, elevated work areas, and varied weather conditions.
