We are seeking a candidate who can observe safe work practices with a focus on changing employee behavior to achieve Bechtel's Zero Accident objective. The successful applicant will provide employee feedback and/or consequences for safe and unsafe behavior. The role will include reading and interpreting blueprints, understanding job specifications, and implementing Bechtel job procedures and work rules. You will need to understand the work scope and integrate priorities of the project, as well as instruct journeymen in specific craft tasks, including safety procedures and techniques.
You will be knowledgeable of other craft disciplines in order to effect work coordination between crafts. The role will include knowing, administering, and enforcing work and safety rules in a fair and consistent manner for the crafts under your direction. You will provide timely and concise guidance to foremen to preclude crew work stoppage and provide precise directions to foremen, ensuring they are effectively supervising work crews. The successful applicant will understand work priorities and schedules and assign work plans accordingly.
You will identify problems and develop action plans to resolve them with minimal work disruption. The role will include initiating the coordination required with other disciplines to prevent scheduling conflicts and being responsible for the quality of work performed by the crafts under your supervision. You will ensure accurate reports are submitted with regard to time sheets, backcharges, quantity, and work status. The successful applicant will ensure foremen and crews understand assignments and directions prior to the commencement of work and participate in the free exchange of ideas between yourself and others.
You will administer praise and discipline consistently and fairly and initiate corrective action when required. The role will include conducting work preplanning by providing meaningful input at weekly scheduling meetings and monitoring work progress, reporting impending schedule problems to supervision. Typically, the successful applicant will have 8 years of industrial construction experience with 4 years in supervisory roles.
