The Lead Pipeline Mapping Designer will assist civil design efforts for projects related to Oil & Gas Pipeline Projects. This job requires interaction within the EPC Services group of Strike, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces. Drawings to be created include alignment sheets, property plats and permit drawings for small, mid-sized and large scale upstream and midstream oil & gas projects.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Assist engineers with initial design and drawing requirements

  • Plan and prepare preliminary layouts and detailed design drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings

  • Research and obtain standards/codes required by clients and jurisdictions and ensure drawings comply

  • Efficiently design and draft the following using AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Alignment Sheets

  • Plats

  • HDD drawings

  • Various permit drawings

  • Optional: Site Grading, Soil Erosion, Drainage, etc. Plans

  • Complete drawing/project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule

  • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy and quality

  • Lead junior designers

  • Work well in a team environment

  • Delegation of tasks

  • Training where required

  • Checking work, including verifying work is done to client specifications and standards

  • Communicate well within a group

  • Follow and/or create procedures

  • Organize/maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner

  • Use third party applications to generate drawing based on specific project requirements

  • Blue Sky Skyline is preferred

  • Work closely with management and design staff to coordinate efforts

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed

  • Ask questions as topics arise

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • 3 - 6 years of experience (or Associates Degree & 2 years of experience) in civil drafting/design drawings

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D

  • ArcGIS experience preferred

  • FERC experience preferred

Competencies:

  • Proficient in current release of AutoCAD and database software.

  • Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design anddrafting practices

  • 3+ years’ experience within the Engineering or Construction industry

  • Read, write  and  communicate  using  English  language  sufficient  to perform  job  functions   (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need)

  • Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of a normal schedule

  • Complies with Strike’s policies and procedures

  • Complies with Strike’s Drug & Alcohol Policy maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employment
