Pay & Benefits:
- $38.00 per hour
- $147.00 daily per diem
- Weekly pay
- 40–70 hours per week
- Overtime opportunities available
Location: Pascagoula, MS
Shifts Available:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Evening Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Schedule: Monday through Friday (some weekends as needed)
Job Overview:
As a 1st Class Sheetmetal Mechanic, you will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and repair of shipboard ventilation systems, bulkheads, doors, foundations, and other structural assemblies. You must be able to work from blueprints, use layout tools, and safely handle various sheet metal materials. Work may take place in confined spaces, at heights, and in all-weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work specifications
- Layout, fabricate, and install sheetmetal components including ducting, brackets, and foundations
- Cut, bend, form, and assemble metal using hand tools, brakes, shears, and power tools
- Install joiner bulkheads, joiner doors, and shipboard furniture components
- Fit-up and tack structural assemblies with precision
- Maintain safety and quality standards in all environments
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a 1st Class Sheetmetal Mechanic in a shipyard or similar environment
- Proficient with measuring tools, layout techniques, and sheetmetal equipment
- Skilled in interpreting fabrication and installation drawings
- Must pass a hands-on practical assessment
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and in physically demanding environments
