UT Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for the management of over 17,000 parking spaces on campus, including 12 parking garages and more than 50 surface parking lots. Our operations include the distribution and regulation of daily, permitted, and event parking, as well as the maintenance of parking lots and garages. We also provide assistance to those parked on or traveling through campus. This assistance includes jump-starts and opening vehicles for those locked out.

Purpose
Journeyman's electrical license. Provide journey level work installing, trouble shooting and repairing electrical devices. Provide additional support performing other maintenance duties outside of the electrical field including, but not limited to, repairing poles, gates and various other maintenance tasks. May be required to work weekends, evening, comp/overtime. TX Drivers license required. Must be qualified to operate UT vehicle and maintain acceptable driving qualifications through the University's driver education program. Must work at least one home football game every year and the Thanksgiving weekend game once every other year. Cell phone required.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install electrical equipment on or related to University parking facilities with journeyman's level expertise. Follow all safety procedures. Safely operate hydraulic lift.
Perform journey level work in the repair, maintenance and installation of various other skilled fields including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, concrete and HVAC systems.
Assist in the technical aspects of ordering, estimating and organizing various projects.
Provide training and supervision to co-workers and helpers assisting in any and all work performed. Must be able to communicate effectively via cell phone, SMS and email.
Required Qualifications
High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience as a journey level electrician. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman electrical license from a jurisdiction recognized by the City of Austin. Masters Electricians License. More than four years experience. Experience in multiple crafts. Demonstrated stable work history. Experience at UT Austin or other higher education facility. Associates degree. Graduation from a technical or vocational school. Journeyman electrical license from a jurisdiction recognized by the City of Austin. Three years experience troubleshooting electrical circuits. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction. Must have current TXDL. Clear Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 36 months including states outside of Texas. Candidate must provide MVR. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
Driver Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
