Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Work Schedule: 10-hour shift, 5 shifts on/ 2 days off

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides technical support for the safe and efficient operation of sand processing equipment and physical plant in a high production operation. Performs a wide variety of electrical and electronic maintenance and service work on sophisticated and high voltage electronic equipment, machines, and controls. Develops actions plans and timelines for projects and presents for approval. Provides direct updates to management on progress and project schedules. Trains others in the principles of automation. Confers with third-party vendors on projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Works safely, uses appropriate PPE.
  • Assemble, install, wire, test, and maintain high voltage electrical equipment fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with all codes and MSHA standards.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and process meters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous to personnel or equipment.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis surveys, submit and communicate detailed results to management inclusive of a detailed recommended course of action.
  • Assemble accurate and comprehensive material lists in support of assigned projects.
  • Work directly with third-party vendors regarding physical and technical aspects of projects. Primary examples include PLC programming, automation support, process control systems, and complex instrumentation.
  • Constantly reviews the operation of the plant to monitor potential trouble areas, anticipating and solving problems in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Must be able to perform industrial automation diagnostics, monitoring and installation of electrical systems requiring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), drives, and soft starts.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of plant systems and how they work together including equipment interlocks, fiber network, network switches, if/then logic and HMI interfaces.
  • Certification or diploma from accredited electrical trade education program.
  • Sufficient education to make appropriate arithmetic equations and complete written documentation and records; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, use simple math, and use basic handheld measuring tool.
  • Must have the ability to size circuits, bend conduit, and understand the basic fundamentals of single phase and three phase power distribution.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, using both written and spoken forms of communication.
  • Must be a self-starter and also be able to timely complete tasks directed by supervisor.
  • Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis and be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have high safety standards for self and others.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5) years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, including three (3) years of related to installation and maintenance of plant automation. Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with significant PLC experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequently requires carrying, pushing, pulling 75 pounds of weight from 33% - 66% of the time (2.5 - 5.5+ hrs./day)
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, climb and move about the facility.
  • Frequently climbs ladders and stairs.
  • Work Environment - Work performed in a plant environment. Exposure to inclement weather as most work will be performed outside.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, hard hat and steel toe boots must be worn at all times. Hearing, respiratory and/or fall protection equipment must be worn when required.
PAY
  • $30-35/HR DOE
  • Shop III position.
