Job Description
Enscicon is hiring for an experienced Piping Supervisor/Superintendent for a long-term power outage project in Central Washington.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all types of mechanical equipment associated with hydroelectric plants.
Read and understand necessary manuals, drawings, plans and specifications.
Dismantle, repair, replace, install piping for the turbine and generator systems
Welding, grinding, pipe preparation, pressure testing, cleaning of piping
Operate boom trucks, gantry cranes and hoists (not mandatory)
Perform metal work, pipe work, routine welding, painting
Take measurements and prepare job sketches.
In addition to the normal description of construction work for lifting, bending, working with the hands pulling
Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
Perform related duties as assigned.
The work requires the Foreman to be knowledgeable about these steps and have a safe approach towards the works to be done and to be in control of his crew.
As a Foreman the individual will also be responsible for leading and managing a crew of skilled laborers including but not limited to: delegation of tasks and supervision over work product, leading safety meetings and guiding staff to take proactive safety measures, providing direction, scheduling shifts, and involvement in hiring and firing decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE
:
Minimum 8 years of prior Pipefitter/Millwright experience and 3 years of experience as a General Foreman or Superintendent, preferably working on hydroelectric or other related power plants.
Principles and practices of maintaining multi-purpose hydroelectric generating facilities, including dams, powerhouses, valve and gate houses and equipment associated with these facilities.
Safe operation of heavy construction equipment.
Theory and application of repair and replacement practices for mechanical equipment and heavy industrial machinery used at hydroelectric power generating facilities.
Principles and practices of customer service.
REQUIRED ABILITIES:
Actively respect all safety instructions detailed in the site EHS plan and being proactive on all safety related topics at the work site
Perform skilled duties involving machining, mechanical maintenance, welding, pipefitting and rigging.
Ability to lead, motivate and empower staff
Excellent communication skills that will drive output
Repair, rebuild and replace piping systems
Knowledge in tubing and piping
Knowledge in carbon steel, galvanized, stainless steel, PVC piping systems
Knowledge in oil/water/air piping systems including low and high pressure
Knowledge in different fitting types (flanges, vitaulic, etc)
Align motors and pumps
Operate project gantry cranes (not mandatory but please detail certificate & validity)
Perform various types of welding (oxygen-acetylene, shielded metal-arc, TIG, MIG), cutting (oxygen-acetylene, carbon arc)- (not mandatory but please detail certificate & validity)
Use a wide range of hand and power tools.
Read and understand manuals, drawings, plans and specifications especialy isometrics and P&ID
Able to redmark the drawings and draw piping sketches
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
:
Work is carried out both inside and outside environment with exposure to various weather conditions.
Frequently sit while operating vehicles.
Frequently twist to reach equipment and perform simple grasping and fine manipulation.
Frequently climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand and walk.
Frequently push, pull, grasp and carry while walking.
Occasionally work on various types of terrain and footing which may be slippery.
Frequently lift up to 35 pounds.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Pay range between $65-$85/hour, depending on experience.
