Summary of position:
Perform pipe stress analysis using Caesar II software. Provide oversight and guidance to the mechanical and civil design team in pipe layout, support configurations, anchor/guide details, and other pipe appurtenance selections.
Requirements / Must haves:
? Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related, and five (5) years' experience in performing piping stress analysis in accordance with ASME codes and standards, utilizing Caesar II software for the oil and gas or energy industry.
? Knowledge of the engineering development processes and typical Piping Engineering deliverables such as piping isometrics, piping line classes, line designation tables, specialty items, and material selection diagrams is required.
? Exposure to pressure vessels, compressors, pumps, exchanges, and tanks is preferred.
? PE license in the State of CA preferred
? In depth knowledge of ASME Design Codes B31.3, B31.4, and B31.9. Experience in using Caesar II Pipe Stress software. In depth knowledge of determination of allowable nozzle loading on pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, tanks, and other equipment.
? Other software requirements: AutoCAD, Plant3D, MS Office. Knowledge of seismic factors and building codes
? Independently performs piping and nozzle stress analysis and calculations, conducts studies and prepares reports using Caesar II and Nozzle Pro software.
? Ensures adherence to industry codes and standards as well as company practices and procedures.
? Actively interfaces with Piping Design and Civil/Structural Disciplines during design development and final design phases.
? Develops design documentation and deliverables such as piping stress reports, including nozzle load reports, pipe support load calculations, and specialty item datasheets such as spring hangers, expansion joints, snubbers, etc.
? Reviews specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements and actively seek resolution; maintains communication with the project team, the client, and the field.
? Effectively understands complex technical challenges and communicates solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
? Ensures effective management of change during project design and construction.
? Develops pipe support standards and other pipe stress related specifications based on client requirements.
? Assists with training other engineers and designers by providing instruction on proper design techniques, new technologies and/or a specialization.
