Job Overview
Kodiak Labor Solutions is seeking experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics at the Journeyman and Helper levels for a large scale commercial data center project in the Richmond, Virginia area.
Both local and traveling candidates are encouraged to apply, with $120/day per diem available for qualified travelers. This is a 1 yr. + project opportunity for sheet metal professionals with hands-on experience fabricating, installing, and hanging commercial ductwork.
What You'll Do
As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you'll work as part of an active construction crew installing and supporting ductwork systems throughout the data center project.
Responsibilities include:
- Fabricate, install, and hang sheet metal ductwork according to project drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, layouts, and installation documentation
- Measure, fit, and assemble ductwork and related sheet metal components
- Coordinate with crew members and supervision to maintain installation schedules and project timelines
- Maintain tools and equipment in accordance with jobsite and safety standards
- Follow all site specific safety procedures and requirements
- Communicate installation issues, delays, and progress to the crew lead or foreman
Journeyman Requirements
- Journeyman level sheet metal experience
- Proven experience with sheet metal ductwork fabrication and installation
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and layouts independently
- Experience working in a commercial or industrial construction environment
- Standard hand tools required for the trade
- Reliable transportation to the assigned job site
- Ability to work safely and effectively as part of an active construction crew
Helper Requirements
- Prior sheet metal, HVAC, or construction experience preferred, not required
- Willingness to learn ductwork fabrication and installation under direction of a Journeyman
- Basic ability to read mechanical drawings and layouts, with training provided
- Standard hand tools required for the trade
- Reliable transportation to the assigned job site
- Ability to work safely and effectively as part of an active construction crew
Preferred Experience
- Data center or other large scale commercial construction experience
- Commercial HVAC ductwork installation
- Layout and field fabrication experience
- Coil line or plasma table experience
