Job Title: Machinist Prototype/Tool & Die Maker
Job Location: Torrance, CA
Pay range: $27.92 - $40.95 per hour

Responsibilities
We currently have an opening for a skilled
MACHINIST
at our Torrance, California location. In this full-time hourly position, you will carry out precision machine work, including the planning, lay-out, set-up, and operation of all types of machine tools, to perform machining operations or modifications of specialized fixtures and tooling requiring a high level of skill and job knowledge. You'll plan sequences of operations and methods to completely lay out and set up work for the entire project, including any temporary tooling and production aids that may be needed. In addition, you will utilize precision measuring instruments to progressively confirm dimensional accuracy of work in progress.
Qualifications
At least 6 years of journey-level machinist experience, with in-depth knowledge of the safe and proper use of all related equipment as well as finishes and machining characteristics of various types of plastics and metals.
Demonstrated ability to lay out complex parts for projects requiring extensive use of shop mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry, is necessary.
The ability to establish exact dimensions or more suitable configurations or material substitutions (when not specified) is needed.
Must be able to work from oral and written instructions and rough sketches that provide a general outline of experimental or developmental projects.
The ability to plan and execute projects quickly and effectively with minimum lost time, scrap, and rejections is required.
You should be able to effectively work with supervisors and engineering personnel on design problems and the development of alternative methods and procedures.
The ability to measure own work using quality inspection tools such as: Verniers, Calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics and inside micrometers.
Fabricate temporary tooling for production aids when needed.
Knowledge of various metals and plastics, copper, molly and acrylic.
Knowledge of GD&T
Knowledge of conventional mill & lathe operations
The ability to cross train others and perform in a team environment
Knowledge of grinders, sheers, breaks and manual machinery
High school diploma/GED
