City Experiences is seeking a Marine Laborer for our operation in Puerto Rico.
Pay range is $15 per hour
About You:
This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.
About the Opportunity:
The Shoreside Marine Laborer reports directly to the onsite project lead. This position assists the project lead and engineers with site prep, cleanup, organization, and support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs following tasks in shipyards: Loads vehicles, using hand truck or dolly. Washes trucks and other vehicles. Cleans ships, piers, drydocks, and other working areas, using broom and water hose. Opens shipping crates, using hammer and pinch bar. Sorts lumber, metals, and other scrap materials. Collects and burns trash. Mixes and pours cement on inner bottoms of ships and around joints on decks to prepare surfaces for tile or to make joints watertight. Removes paint and scale from ships' metal surfaces, using hand or powered wire brushes. Conveys materials and tools to work site.
Assists engineers and projects leads with the daily tasks associated with Vitus' shoreside marine projects
Performs tasks involving physical labor, including but not limited to: moving, securing, installing, building, loading or unloading materials.
Effective operation of hand and power tools of all types.
Clean jobsites; removal of rubble and debris, hazardous waste, etc.
Moving dirt or other material as directed by project lead.
Support engineering team, includes, but not limited to, organizing gear and tools, etc.
In dry dock repairs at the shipyards of the vessel drive lines, water jets, couplings, propellers, rudders, and shafts supporting shipyard personnel and/or the Production Manager.
Work alongside and support OEM service technicians.
Testing and inspecting installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.
Documentation and monitoring of maintenance and repair work through the company.
Participate in computer-based monitoring and input of maintenance tasks, work hours, and company training and documentation programs. Web based and structured maintenance and repair program.
Assisting the Shipyard personnel with movement and installation of Marine Equipment, Construction Materials, and tools.
Assists with general operations of the yard, including but not limited to:
Removal of vessels from water using movable lift crane.
Moving vessels in the yard.
Positioning and securing blocking at the bottom and sides of the vessel according to size, weight, and weight distribution of vessels, using fasteners, hand tools and power tools.
Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean nvironment.
Work the hours and shifts assigned by the Production Manager. This may include weekend or evening shifts and occasional The Production Manager will make efforts to balance these shifts and occasional overtime with every employee's need for rest, relaxation, and family time.
Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude.
Conduct yourself with a positive and contagious attitude for others to emulate.
Keep the (PE) and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations.
Hold yourself and all employees accountable to the Environmental, Safety and Quality Respect and SMS systems of the organization and to work closely with the Manager of ISO/ Respect & Training to implement such systems, plans and control of records and documentation.
Travel to projects sites within US and internationally as needed.
Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience working on construction sites and with power tools.
Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures.
Must have experience working in the marine or construction field.
Basic computer skills as well as the ability to safely communicate with others in the English.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to travel to jobs at different sites.
Must thrive in a fast-paced environment.
