Job Description

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking skilled and dependable Shipyard Electricians to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems aboard marine vessels under construction, repair, or retrofit. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in shipyard or marine environments and be well-versed in U.S. Coast Guard and ABS standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures.

  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to determine wiring layouts.

  • Work with AC/DC systems, switchgear, panels, and control circuits.

  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable maritime regulations and safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with other trades (e.g., pipefitters, welders) to complete multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Perform inspections, conduct continuity and voltage tests, and prepare reports.

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience as a marine or shipyard electrician.

  • Familiarity with maritime electrical codes and classification society requirements (ABS, USCG, etc.).

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and onboard active construction or repair vessels.

  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and PPE usage.

    • Standard toolbag
    • Not afraid of heights.
    • Be willing to set up temporary service (lighting, plug box, welders, etc.). 

     

    • Know how to use Power tools ( drills, grinder, jig saw, etc.). 
    • Drill & tipping (mounting equipment).
    • Install of studs (using a stud welder).
    • Understanding how to use a Multimeter.
    • Basic trouble shooting of AC & DC system.

     

    • Cable install (pulling & banding cable).
    • Packing & Seal of penetrations ( Roxtec, STI, etc.).

     

    • Being able to document with clear & understandable handwriting (Documentation of the Network).
    • Able to read spreadsheets & network prints.
    • Remove & Installing network ware.
    • Understanding Analog & digital signals relating to PLC/ IO.

     

    • Understand AC one line & cable block diagrams.
    • Cut in & termination of Generator controls.
    • Cut in & termination of generator feeder cables (300MCM).

     

    • Under standing Motor Control Center(MCM ) & Motor Starters.
    • Termination AC Motors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PLC systems, control panels, and automation.

  • Knowledge of high- and low-voltage systems.

  • Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent is a plus.
