We have professional project management and logistics staff as well as highly skilled field personnel capable of performing all aspects of our projects. Our team plans, conducts all logistics, executes, and manages heavy industry construction projects across the state, supporting development in some of the most environmentally and logistically complex locations in the world. Some of our notable work, including wind energy installation, communication tower installation, diesel generation upgrades and community bulk fuel system upgrades have provided even the most remote communities with essential services.

What can you expect?

As the Tower Site Laborer, you will work to support skilled tower crew and performs manual labor and general construction duties as part of the STG construction crew. Most work takes place in extreme Alaskan conditions.

How will you do it?
  • Perform manual labor to support the general construction of tower sites to include, but not limited to; site layout, excavation, foundations, erection, installation, and maintenance/repair.
  • Assist other site crew members during all phases of installation of microwave antennas, systems, and all associated components.
  • Assist other site crew members with tower rigging and crane signaling.
  • Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of one's arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials at construction sites.
  • Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.
  • Follow directives from Project Foreman, and anyone senior, with the sense of duty to take initiative and always remain productive while on the jobsite.
  • Work closely with a variety of other trades.
  • Apply versatile construction skill set to assist other trades to meet project needs.
  • Adhere to and perform duties pursuant to the company wide safety plan.
  • Report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to the company Risk Manager.
  • Maintain sense of duty to conduct oneself in the best interest of the company while on the job or representing STG.
  • Act as a team member and mentor less experienced laborers.
  • Contribute to remote housing tasks which may include cooking and cleaning as necessary in the field quarters.
  • Work as a "team-player" with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Seek and participate in development and training opportunities.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • All around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in construction field.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools used in construction trade, and ability to use safely and efficiently.
  • Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines and general time management.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment or motor vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings.
  • Ability to travel to remote places for work related purposes (up to 100% of time) and to work a flexible schedule, at times for extended periods.
  • Ability to live and work with co-workers in close quarters and keep good morale.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings.
Who is STG Inc. looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One or more years' experience in the construction field, with at least 6 months' experience in rural arctic construction sites required.
  • First Aid/CPR training or ability to become certified required.
  • Valid state driver's license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of STG's Driving Policy required.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in Alaska's remote construction industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working with tower or radar sites and electric system preferred.
