Primary function of a Senior Mechanical Estimator: Leads efforts on mechanical estimates (piping and equipment) in order to acquire new projects that meet the goals of Crowder Industrial Construction’s business plan.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Bid Preparation

  • Must have commensurate experience in leading mechanical estimates with heavy civil and electrical requirements.
  • Specialize in industrial construction with a focus on gas treatment, water treatment, power, hydro, and heavy industrial.
  • Extensive pipe estimating experience.
  • Position offers growth potential with an ENR Top 400 Contractor.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Provide complete conceptual (or bid work) and final estimating input on complex projects.
  • Participate in team bid reviews with ability to convey scope and methodology to management.
  • Participate in project turnover/transfer of cost information to operations teams on captured projects.
  • Predict and enter the labor, material, subcontract, and construction equipment costs for the estimate.

Document Tracking

  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
  • Assist contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
  • Develop execution plans and assist in project write-ups for submission to clients.
  • Track awarded contracts as required – may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit, procuring materials, etc.
  • Assist the project teams in value engineering process and any major change orders.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • 5 or more years of estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience in similar construction.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera and Bluebeam preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with a high proficiency in Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards, estimating techniques, engineering, and cost control.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to grasp overall project scope and assist in development of capture strategy, while ensuring accurate representation of project costs.
  • Must have a valid, non-restrictive driver’s license and meet Crowder standards for Driver’s Authorization.

Salary: $100,000 based on experience
