Job Location: Newport News, VA
Start Date: 9/12/2024
End Date: 9/11/2025
Shift: Variable, 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM, Sunday - Saturday
Number of Positions: 11 positions available
Rate of Pay: $27.31 per hour (Per diem available for those who qualify)

DESCRIPTION:

Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Deck Electricians to join our team at the Newport News Shipyard. We are looking for professionals with three (3) or more years of experience in the electrical field, specializing in Industrial, Marine, or Commercial Nuclear applications. The Deck Electrician will perform essential electrical installation and repair tasks aboard ships.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  1. Electrical Installations: Lay off and mount electrical equipment, install cable penetrations in bulkheads, and perform cable installations and terminations.
  2. Interpretation of Schematics: Read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.
  3. Equipment Use: Proficient in the use of basic electrical meters and test instruments (volt-ohm meters, clamp-on ammeters, insulation resistance testers, etc.).
  4. Hand Tools: Proficient in the use of electrician hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and connector crimping tools.
  5. Physical Ability: Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
  6. Safety Standards: Follow all safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and fall protection gear. Pass the Stud Shooting training class and associated vision test.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Industrial, Marine, or Commercial Nuclear electrical work.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Experience with basic electrical meters and hand tools.
  • Must be physically fit for demanding work environments, including heights and confined spaces.
