Journeyman Electrician having the necessary qualifications, training, experience, and technical knowledge to install, maintain, repair electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures and other purposes and who is licensed by the board.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems
  • Diagnose electrical problems and malfunctions and take corrective action
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
  • Use precision, maintain and repair instrumentation
  • Mentor Apprentices from beginning to end of assignment to ensure quality work and facilitate learning.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you collaborate with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending

Education

High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver's license.

Current North Dakota Journeyman License or ability to reciprocate journeyman license from the following states:

Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Mentor apprentice electricians.
