Description Construction Laborer Apprentice

ACS is currently seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Construction Laborer to join our team. As a Construction Laborer, you will be an essential part of our renewable energy projects, learning valuable skills through our registered apprenticeship program. As a registered apprentice, you will be enrolled in our comprehensive two-year program. This program incorporates a combination of classroom learning and practical on-the-job training to thoroughly prepare you for your journey-worker's certification. Compensation

Starting at $18 - $22 with incremental wage increases plus GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA)

Per diem provided based on location

Candidate Requirements

While no experience is needed candidates are required to have the following:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Safe use of hand & power tools.
  • Ability to work in and promote a drug free environment
  • Able to carry 50/60lbs of equipment and lift 100lbs
  • Be reliable and practice good attendance
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Provide references attesting to a good work history
  • Have completed high school or earned an equivalent
  • Preference is provided to applicants who have served in the Armed Forces
Functional Requirements:

  • Measure distance from grade stakes
  • Drive stakes
  • Stretch tight line
  • Grade stacks from lumber for reuse
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications with shovel to assist in pipe laying, and preparing sub grades and other excavations
  • Direct other laborers in dumping concrete into forms
  • Erect shoring and braces and paints pipe joints with sealing compound
  • Assist in setting pumps and setting well-points
  • May assist heavy construction equipment operator in aligning and moving equipment such as cranes, power shovels and backhoes, verifying grades and signaling operators to adjust machines to conform to grade specifications.
  • Directs truck drivers and scraper operators to dumping positions to maintain grades as directed by Grading Foreman or Dumping Foreman.
  • Work in a concrete paving crew, adding to or removing concrete from in front of concrete finishing machines so that correct grade will be met
  • Occasionally use small power tools
  • Other related duties as required.
