Job Summary
Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers' needs. We are currently looking for a
Plant Laborer
in Lyons, NY. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Plant Laborer is responsible for various duties ensuring maximum safety, production, and productivity, including loading and unloading rail cars, working with asphalt and emulsion, and general maintenance. Minimum starting rate for this role is $21.00/hour.
Main Responsibilities
General laborer duties associated with asphalt and emulsions manufacturing
Load and unload trailers, move pallets with fork lift
Work with rail cars that contain hot asphalt
Maintain the terminal through cleaning and painting
Daily inventory activities
Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the terminal operations
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
Mechanical experience a plus
Must be proficient in math, computer and communication skills
Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
This position will require some night and weekend shifts
