Millwright – Turbine Overhaul (Field Service)

About the Role
Per Se Group is seeking experienced Millwrights to join our field operations team supporting major overhaul, maintenance, and repair services for steam turbines and gas turbines. In this role, you will execute precision mechanical work on large rotating equipment at power generation facilities and industrial sites. Travel throughout the Southeastern U.S. and extended stays at project locations are expected.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, overhaul, and reassembly of steam and gas turbine equipment in outage and overhaul environments.
  • Accurately read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to guide installation and repair tasks.
  • Conduct alignment, fitment, precision measurement, rigging, and equipment leveling using industry-standard tools.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and execute corrective action to restore equipment to operational condition.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, and quality checks to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Follow site safety protocols, adhere to OSHA standards, and participate in job hazard analyses.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation, including time records, inspection notes, and material usage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school coursework in industrial maintenance, machining, or mechanical technology preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on millwright or industrial mechanic experience—preferably in turbine overhaul, rotating equipment, or heavy industrial maintenance.
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience using precision measurement tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform rigging, alignment, and field machining/fabrication tasks.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied environmental conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and remain on job sites during multi-week outages.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with steam and gas turbine major inspections and overhauls.
  • Journeyman certification or millwright apprenticeship completion.
  • Proficiency in rigging, hoisting, and precision alignment equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a field team.

Working Conditions

  • Field service environment at power plants and industrial sites across the Southeastern United States.
  • Travel and temporary relocation required based on project schedules.
  • Work may include outdoor conditions, variable weather, and physically demanding tasks.
