Job Summary: The scaffold builder is tasked with erecting and dismantling scaffolding structures to provide safe working platforms for construction, maintenance, or repair activities. They must adhere to safety regulations and ensure that scaffolds are structurally sound and stable.


  1. Scaffold Construction: Erecting scaffolds according to specifications provided by blueprints, drawings, or instructions from supervisors. This involves assembling scaffold components such as tubes, clamps, braces, and platforms to create a sturdy framework.

  2. Safety Compliance: Adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others. This includes using personal protective equipment (PPE), securing scaffolds properly, and conducting regular safety inspections.

  3. Material Handling: Transporting scaffold components to and from construction sites using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, or hoists. Safely loading and unloading materials to prevent accidents or damage.

  4. Team Collaboration: Working closely with other construction team members, including supervisors, carpenters, masons, and laborers, to coordinate scaffold erection and dismantle activities. Communicating effectively to ensure smooth workflow and project progress.

  5. Scaffold Maintenance: Inspecting scaffolds regularly for signs of wear, damage, or instability. Repairing or replacing components as needed to maintain structural integrity and safety standards.

  6. Dismantling Scaffolds: Disassembling scaffolds safely and efficiently once construction, maintenance, or repair work is complete. Ensuring that all components are carefully removed and stored properly for future use or transport.

  7. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of scaffold assembly, inspections, and dismantling activities. Completing necessary paperwork and reports to document work progress and compliance with regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a scaffold builder or in a related construction role preferred.
  • Knowledge of scaffold assembly techniques, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and instructions.
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work at heights.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions: Scaffold builders typically work outdoors at construction sites, often in challenging weather conditions. The job involves working at heights and may require climbing, bending, and lifting heavy materials. Strict adherence to safety protocols is essential to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries. Work hours may vary depending on project deadlines and scheduling requirements.
