Pay: $25 - 28/hr DOE + $120 daily per diem for days worked
Job Description:
- Utilize AMPP (formerly SSPC) certifications to perform painting tasks on Navy ships, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in brush and roll painting techniques, as well as HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spraying, to apply coatings on ship surfaces.
- Follow Navy ship painting procedures, specifications, and quality standards to achieve durable and corrosion-resistant paint finishes.
- Work from staging, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces to access and paint various areas of Navy ships, including superstructures, deck surfaces, and compartments.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, priming, and masking before applying paint to ensure proper adhesion and finish.
- Coordinate with painting team members, supervisors, and inspectors to execute painting projects efficiently and safely.
- Adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality control measures while working on Navy ships.
- Maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with Navy shipyard requirements.
Requirements:
- Possess AMPP (formerly SSPC) certifications relevant to Navy ship painting preferred.
- Extensive experience in brush and roll painting, HVLP spraying, and marine coatings application on Navy ships.
- Demonstrated ability to work from staging and scaffolding on elevated surfaces in shipyard environments.
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, coatings application, and paint systems used on Navy ships.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and quality in painting workmanship to meet Navy specifications.
- Physical agility to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Familiarity with AMPP, OSHA, EPA, and Navy regulations pertaining to ship painting is preferred.
Working Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Working Hours: 50+ hours per week
