We are currently seeking Joiner to work in Norfolk Virginia. To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a minimum 3 years experience in the shipyard.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to obtain a Government facility security pass (DBIDS)
  • Must pass drug test and E-Verify.
  • Must understand the layout of the ship and compartment identification Basic reading, writing and math skills required
  • Personal Protective Equipment:

Hard Hat, Steel Toe Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Gloves


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Installing joiner bulkheads, putting up curtain plates, mounting furniture, and moving material on and off the ship.
  • Reading blueprints to find specified measurements for furniture in compartments and to find the right material for the right compartments.
  • Qualified to stick weld stainless, and mild steel.
  • Qualified on mig welding aluminum.
  • Training on all power tool safety and shipboard safety to properly use and watch for safety hazards while on board the ship.
  • Trained in fire watch to watch welding processes to make sure everything is safe for the welder and everyone nearby.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power tools.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.

  • Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Use materials to build Navy vessels including, walls, ceilings, doors, furniture, sinks and shower faucets, and many more associated tasks
  • Use various power tools such as skill saws, drills, miter saws, table saws, sheet metal brakes, etc. To cut materials to dimensions required and assemble the parts being constructed
  • Installing interior and exterior doors and hatches on vessels
  • Testing door and hatches with Navy inspectors and ABS to show they are installed to the proper standards, including chalk tests and watertight testing
  • Fabricating and installing sheet metal for draft-stop
  • Fabricating and fitting foundations for cabinets, equipment, plumbing fixtures, HVAC equipment and more Assist in Navy inspections of the various phases of construction including the initial inspections all the way through the final sale of the product for turn over to the owners
  • Working directly with and assisting the Supervisor and Foreman in assigning the day to day activities of the crews and assisting them in completing the jobs assigned
  • Document and record material quantities used for building parts
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and conditions
  • Use materials to build parts for wood core per drawings and specifications
  • Use various power tools such as skill saws, drills, miter saws, table saws, jointers, planers, etc. To cut materials to dimensions required and assemble the parts being constructed
