We are seeking a candidate who possesses the necessary skill set to successfully pass the pre-employment welding examination and demonstrates strong technical knowledge and practical welding abilities. The successful applicant will assist in component installation, fit-up, and alignment, and must be familiar with the equipment used in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes.
You will be responsible for verifying the position of metal components in assemblies using precision measuring tools such as straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rules. The role will include the use of conventional tools—grinders, buffers, files, and chipping hammers—for both welding preparation and clean-up. You will also tack-weld components to secure them in place prior to final welding.
A strong understanding of weld acceptance criteria is essential, as you will perform front-line examinations of welding work to ensure quality standards are met. Adherence to all safety procedures is a critical aspect of this role.
