Job Description:
We are currently hiring experienced Structural Welders to support ship repair and new construction projects at a Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS. This position involves performing high-quality welds using Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in structural applications.
Work is performed in physically demanding environments including heights, confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions. All welders must demonstrate safe gouging techniques and complete weld tests without the use of grinders. Candidates must be flexible to work day or night shifts, depending on production needs.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in FCAW structural welding
- Proficient in 3G and 4G weld positions on 1-inch plate
- Ability to perform safe and effective gouging
- Must pass visual inspection and bend tests
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Previous shipyard welding experience is strongly preferred
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors
Testing (On-site Practical Assessment Required):
Structural Welder Test Requirements:
- Weld 3G and 4G positions on 1-inch beveled plate with backing strap
- Each position must pass two successful bend tests
- No grinding allowed — welds must be clean and visually acceptable
- Must demonstrate proper gouging technique
Testing must be completed within a 40-hour window. One retest is allowed. If a second failure occurs, a 4-hour practice period is required before a final attempt.
Required Tools & PPE:
All tools and PPE must be provided by the candidate. This shipyard does not supply any equipment. Unprepared candidates will be sent home.

- Welding Shield (must be able to attach securely to hard hat if used)
- Welding Gloves
- Welding Jacket
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Hard Hat (any color except white or gold)
- All other essential welding tools
