Schedule: Monday through Friday (some weekends as needed)
Job Overview:
As a 1st Class Outside Machinist, you will operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment aboard Navy and commercial vessels. You’ll fabricate, install, and repair large mechanical components, ensuring precise alignment and fit. The job demands technical skill, physical stamina, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret mechanical drawings and job specifications

Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining tools to fabricate or repair parts

Install and align machinery components, shafts, and couplings

Perform measurements and adjustments to ensure accurate fit and operation

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety standards
Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of experience as an outside machinist in a shipyard or heavy industrial setting

Proficiency in blueprint reading and precision machining techniques

Ability to work with hand and power tools, measuring devices, and machining equipment

Must pass practical skills assessment

Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and in physically demanding conditions
