Study specifications, building plans, and shop drawings to determine work aids required and the proper sequence of installation

Install, assemble, and test mechanical piping systems during commissioning phases

Perform system flushing, leak checks, and pressure testing (hydrostatic and pneumatic)

Conduct system walkdowns and mark up P&IDs and isometric drawings
-
Inspect structures to identify potential obstructions and avoid structural weakening during installation

Lay out and mark pipe routes and openings using measuring tools, levels, squares, and lasers
-
Cut openings in walls and floors for piping systems using hand and power tools

Install sleeves and leave-outs for roof and wall penetrations
-
Assist with excavation, backfilling, and tamping of ditches

Cut, ream, solder, braze, fuse, solvent weld, groove, thread, and press pipe fittings using various tools and methods

Lay out, align, fit, tack-weld, and install valves, hangers, pipe, and fittings made of various metals and plastics

Set up and operate welding equipment including arc, MIG, TIG, gas-shielded arc, and submerged arc machines

Maintain the work area in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations

Use and maintain required personal tools and PPE properly at all times

Perform leak tests using air or water to verify piping system integrity

Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including compressors, pumps, and control systems

Collaborate with plumbers, welders, sheet metal workers, or HVAC technicians as needed

Work closely with QA/QC and commissioning teams to ensure compliance with operational standards

Document all work performed and system statuses for turnover and commissioning records
