Key Responsibilities

  • Perform single-mode/multimode fiber splicing (loose tube and ribbon) with proper slack storage and protection.

  • Prep splice locations; install/label splice trays, closures, peds, handholes, vaults; maintain neat, workmanlike results.

  • Execute mid-sheath access and add/drop splices; place and seal closures to spec.

  • Test and troubleshoot with OTDR, light source/power meter, and VFL; document results and update as-builts.

  • Build/interpret cut sheets, splicing schematics, and fiber assignment maps; complete job packets and audit sheets daily.

  • Coordinate traffic/safety setup (cones, signs, barriers); flagging when required.

  • Operate and care for assigned vehicle, tools, and fusion splicing equipment; perform daily inspections.

  • Communicate professionally with customers/GCs; provide timely job status updates.

  • Adhere to OSHA/NESC and company safety policies at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of verifiable fiber splicing experience (OSP/ISP).

  • Proficiency with fusion splicers (single-fiber and preferred ribbon), cleavers, OTDR, LS/PM, VFL.

  • Strong knowledge of fiber color code and documentation practices (cut sheets/splice logs).

  • Ability to read prints, splice schematics, and work orders; follow technical procedures.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; clean driving record.

  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly; work on ladders, in manholes/handholes, and at heights; tolerance for outdoor conditions.

  • Willing to work variable hours, nights/weekends as needed for cutovers.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • CDL-A or bucket truck experience (higher wage scales may apply).

  • Aerial and underground construction familiarity (strand/lash, risers, conduit).

  • Small-team lead experience (mentoring a splicing laborer/assistant).

  • Familiarity with client standards and closeout documentation platforms.

Schedule & Working Conditions

  • Full-time hourly; standard day shift with occasional night/weekend/on-call windows.

  • Outdoor field work; exposure to weather, traffic, urban/rural environments, and moderate-to-loud noise.

  • Regular standing, kneeling, climbing, crouching; vision requirements include close/distance/color/peripheral/depth focus.

Pay & Benefits (W2)

  • $28.00 – $35.00/hr DOE + OT potential.

  • Weekly pay.

  • Eligibility for benefits (medical/dental/vision/401k/PTO) per assignment and company policy.
